Michael Atler - Spin & Yoga Instructor

Michael’s journey for health & wellness began at a very trying time in his life. He realized, like many of us, that he was overweight & had incredibly high blood pressure. He knew that he needed to make some changes, & fast. To jump start his health & wellness journey he signed up for the Breast Cancer 3 Day walk. A 60-mile journey where he heard countless stories of hope & inspiration. After completing this feat, Michael earned both his spin & yoga certifications. He knew that he wanted to be part of the solution, not the problem. Michael’s transformation is CrossFit Justice’s gain. So far, he’s lost 25 pounds & his blood pressure is perfect! He’s a happy soul that loves to sweat & jam out to some solid beats. The next move is for you to join him on Tuesday evenings or Saturday mornings for one of his classes. Hope to see you there!!

Jordan Betts- Olympic Lifting Coach 

Coach Jordan is the newest member of the CrossFit Justice coaching staff. However, don’t let that fool you. Coach Jordan has been in the business of lifting for the past 8 years. CrossFit appealed to him for a time but Olympic and Power lifting are his true passion. Jordan is an accomplished coach and gym owner in his own right, running and operating Bett’s Built in Waterford Mi. He has numerous national record holders and several of his athletes have earned best overall scores at local Lex Artis competitions. We are excited that Coach Jordan has agreed to share his expertise with us! Come improve your lifting technique with Jordan on Sundays in our Olympic Lifting Class.

Chris Follick - Head Trainer


Chris Follick has been training and using the CrossFit methodology since 2011. He was first introduced to it at CrossFit Justice as a way to improve his endurance & strength during road races & triathlons. Due to the high intensity and constantly varied workouts, Chris fell in love with CrossFit immediately. In addition to his improved fitness, he also appreciated the sense of community developed through training. Since his humble beginnings, Chris has utilized his increased fitness to compete in the Bayshore & Boston Marathons, a Half-Ironman & a handful of Spartan Obstacle Course Races. However, after years of training, the intensity left Chris fatigued and metabolically broken. The energy and passion for training wasn’t there anymore and he knew that he needed to make a change. In came Vaughn, Max and Kate from Ticker Training. Their take on heartrate-based training left him with a newfound appreciation for fitness that he needed to share with the CFJ community.

Rose Follick- CrossFit Coach, Yoga & Social Media 

Rose’s journey with CrossFit began about three years ago. Like many of our coaches, Rose started CrossFit to compliment her endurance background. The hard work thing was easy, the strength component not so much. She put in a lot of hard work over the last three years and is now a force to be reckoned with. She still enjoys endurance events but also loves to throw some weight around. She has completed numerous marathons as well as Spartan races. On top of her weightlifting and skills in endurance sports Rose is a physical therapist assistant by day and our social media guru by night. She helps give life to our community and provides valuable insights behind the scenes, as well as on the floor coaching.

Alyssa Reuter- CrossFit Coach & Spin Instructor


Alyssa graduated from Northwood University in 2012, & is currently working as a human resource manager for an IT consulting firm. As a high school athlete, she played soccer, basketball, and ran cross-country & then went on to play 4 years of college soccer. Naturally, a background in athletics & a fierce competitive spirit allowed for a seamless transition into the life & mentality of CrossFit. Alyssa knows that the challenges of CrossFit will help push her along the road of self-improvement. She also has great love & appreciation for the CrossFit Justice community & knows that everyone who steps through our doors gives it their best no matter their fitness abilities. One of her more recent goals is to take the CrossFit Level Two Course in order to help our members reach & obtain their goals. In addition to coaching CrossFit, Alyssa is one of our leading spin instructors. She has been teaching since 2015 & hasn’t looked back since. Outside the gym Alyssa loves to spend time with her family & enjoys the good stuff: desserts! All the more reason to keep her coaching & working out with CFJ & our community!

Vaughn Smith -CrossFit Coach

Vaughn Smith began his CrossFit journey after he saw a clip of the Reebok CrossFit Games in 2012. A former college athlete, Vaughn was Intrigued, dropped in to his first class, got crushed, and decided to come back for more. Even though the workouts are a huge draw for Vaughn, it’s the community & friendly nature of competition that keeps him going. Vaughn knows the road to improved fitness & wellness is made better by those you surround yourself with. He is always learning & striving to be a better coach so he can serve those in his classes.  


Vaughn is also touted as a perfect example of the success Ticker Training can bring to any athlete.  Vaughn is a long time successful competitive CrossFit athlete who wanted to continue doing what he loved but found that instead of getting better, faster, and stronger, and despite lots of hard work, time, and dedication to intense and heavy training, he had simply stopped progressing. Essentially, Vaughn hit a point where his body had stopped absorbing his training and he needed a program that supports his passions and helps him manage balance of training with a career and a family.


Ticker Training taught Vaughn the difference between training and competing. Slowing down to learn to train and become efficient, Vaughn’s movement has improved and his times/loads have improved since he can actually absorb the training stimulus he gives his body each day.

No longer does Vaughn wake up in the morning and wonder if he was injured, sore, sick, or just getting old. Vaughn reports having more energy and his wife and kids love the person who he has become after starting a Ticker program as they get more of him as his happiest self.

Aside from CrossFit, Vaughn loves to spend time with his family & enjoy the outdoors.  Hunting, camping, skiing & travelling top the list. Whatever it is, he uses his fitness to enjoy all that life has to offer.

Patty Thiele- Spin Instructor

Patty is something of a legend in the CrossFit Justice community. She has played a vital role as both a coach & a member in building our culture & empowering its people. It goes without question that Patty has a passion for fitness & loves sharing it with everyone. Whether it be motivating someone or helping people meet & exceed their expectations, it’s in Patty’s wheelhouse. What separates Patty from other coaches is that she constantly strives to create an upbeat environment & take the member experience to the next level. She is so full of energy.  Her passion for fitness & community at CFJ is undeniable but she also has a passion for biking outdoors, swimming, yoga & hiking. You might find her out on the trails in Kensington or spending time with her family. Whatever it is you can bet that Patty is all in.
